Pictures and Videos

My girlfriend and media mogul Hanna followed me around snapping pictures whilst I toiled in my Heathy circles for practise. As she ran off to France while I slogged around the running track she enlisted my friend and colleague Graham to take pictures and videos on the day. Any excuse for him to get his camera out.

With thumbs tucked behind the rucksack straps, I look on laughing
Thanks to Graham Allen for the picture.
16th March: I look around the running track thinking the number thirteen and wondering what I've got myself in for. The pack already feels really heavy!

A weary-looking aD trudging off the track
Thanks to Graham Allen for the picture.
16th March: Just finished the last lap and running very low on steam, I trudge off the running track to be unloaded by my awaiting friends.

Sitting down with a water bottle trying to stretch my legs
Thanks to Graham Allen for the picture.
16th March: I land on my bum for a well-deserved sit-down and take on some water while trying to stretch the last three miles out of my screaming legs.
High resolution: 2136 by 2848 pixels, 2.95 MB.

16th March: First video showing the beginning of the three and six mile runs. Look for someone in a red t-shirt and beige shorts walking while being overtaken by everyone to start with. I had decided that I'd walk the first half of each lap, even the first, however keen I was!
18.9MB, large download for non-broadband connections. Thanks to Graham Allen for the video.

16th March: Second video of the end of a lap. You can almost hear the legs going down a gear! I didn't realise how easy it looks - I just stride along, seemingly unaware of the computer hugging my back.
8.93MB, large download for non-broadband connections. Thanks to Graham Allen for the video.

16th March: Final video of one of my end-of-lap sprints which I regretted later on but it was exhilarating!
2.23MB. Thanks to Graham Allen for the video.

A mid-jog picture with the lake in the background
1st March: I can't decide whether this picture makes the pack look heavy, looking at the size of it, or if it looks light due to my stride and smile. Note the Sport Relief socks!
High resolution: 2187 by 1596 pixels, 1.79MB.

A much more leisurely pace, doing a walking rest
1st March: Still not looking as exhausted as I felt, about halfway though a walking rest before taking up a jog again.
High resolution: 1944 by 2592 pixels, 2.38MB.

Front of the pack with the practising poster featuring prominently and computer-looking corners peeking out
27th February: The pack with the computer I will be using on the day. In case people wonder why I'm walking around the Heath with a computer, there's a poster to show it is, at least, for a reason.
High resolution: 780 by 959 pixels 376K

Side and front view of the pack with the front of the computer showing
27th February: Side and front view showing the front of the computer, as proof there is a computer in there somewhere.
High resolution: 878 by 1140 pixels, 512K.

A picture of me in shorts and t-shirt with the burden perched on my pack
27th February: This picture shows what the pack looks like when being worn. I would have put on a smile but it would have been strained!
High resolution: 467 by 661 pixels, 176K.

My leg with some mud from today's practise session
27th February: I suppose this counts as "equipment". It is a 1980's model right leg. All of the joints and bodywork are in good working order, knee is rather knobbly and the paint is a bit pasty but it works reliably and faithfully. It has been subject to off-road conditions, as you can see from the ankle area, but nothing a good 1980's model can't handle.
(Can't bring myself to upload a high resolution picture)

Adam running almost faster than the camera, with backpack in tow
23rd February: Day one, foolishly wearing a fleece and coat, using my pseudo-computer weight. Note that I'm faster than a camera shutter!
High resolution, 1944 by 2592 pixels 2.5MB.

23rd February: Hanna has stitched together a succession of photos into a hilarious Benny Hill-style video. Swallow your mouthful of tea before clicking!
