The good weather has started to creep back in which must mean it's time for this year's volley of sponsored bike rides! Once again I'm cycling the LiDBA for the Liss Community Association (The Triangle) which serves as a community hub for all sorts of events and clubs as well as cinema nights, hall hire and an Internet/computer centre. Later in July I'll be cycling the 30-mile ride with the Petersfield Ups And Downs for Home-Start Buster who offer support, friendship and practical assistance to families with young children. To simplify fundraising I'll be collecting once and splitting the sponsorship money evenly between the two charities. Both the Liss Community Association and Home-Start do fantastic work and provide invaluable help and resources to their communities and any money donated to their cause is money very well spent. Please give generously to keep the charities going and the pedals spinning!
The two rides will total 53 miles (plus 16 miles round-trip to the LiDBA start) and an ascent of 3000ft! You can see the leg-bustingly steep peaks and thrilling descents on the maps below - just click the "Show elevation data" button on the right-hand side.
If you'd like to come and cheer me on, as well as sponsoring me, I'd love to see you:
I'm also doing something different this year - the World Naked Bike Ride in Southampton! (Links not safe for work!) Yes, you read that correctly: a naked bike ride. I wholeheartedly agree with the part of the ride which raises awareness of the vulnerability of cyclists on the road. I am a keen cyclist for work and pleasure and although I'm a confident cyclist I have been made to feel vulnerable many times because of bad driving or road design. Any effort to bring this plight to the attention of the public gets my vote and my bike! I'm not participating in this ride for sponsorship, just to raise the flag.
