The BBC are echoing technology industry news reports of the current eBay hacks and associated problems that some eBayers are suffering. Some fake or hijacked item pages, served on eBay's web site, are directing users to phishing sites masquerading as legitimate banking, credit card or PayPal sites where their details are then stolen.
eBay has been a prime area that the Web Filtering Service has concentrated on protecting as it is always a common target for phishing sites. Whereas eBay have been caught out by this problem, the rules which prevent these scam sites from working have been included in the Web Filtering Service since 2006, and continue to be checked and improved where needed.
